Regulating porous asphalt concrete temperature using PEG/SiO2 phase change composite: Experiment and simulation

چکیده
Open-graded friction course (OGFC) is prone to deformation-related clogging during summer owing high internal temperature. Reducing OGFC temperature has significant benefits in relation mitigation of rutting and problems. A phase change composite material with PEG-4000 serving as the core SiO2 shell (PEG/SiO2) was used modify OGFC. Different mechanical performance tests were conducted, results showed that addition PEG/SiO2 only slight negative impacts. The effectiveness modified for pavement regulation subsequently demonstrated through a lab-scale, indoor heating test using slab specimens different dosages moisture conditions. Finally, 3-D heat transfer modeling technique applied model field test. from numerical simulation generally close agreement lab results. Based on this study, can be considered an effective approach reducing porous summer.

Characterisation of Asphalt Concrete Using Nanoindentation
In this study, nanoindentation was conducted to extract the load-displacement behaviour and the nanomechanical properties of asphalt concrete across the mastic, matrix, and aggregate phases. Further, the performance of hydrated lime as an additive was assessed across the three phases. The hydrated lime containing samples have greater resistance to deformation in the mastic and matrix phases, in...
متن کاملPhase-separated composite films: experiment and theory
A different phase-separation process is capable of producing a composite system consisting of a very thin layer of liquid crystal in contact with a similarly thin layer of polymer. The morphology of the polymer depends on the composition of the prepolymer-liquid crystal mixture and the rate of polymerization. A simple one-dimensional theory is able to describe the essential features of this pro...
متن کاملSteady-state, simultaneous two-phase flow in porous media: experiment and simulation
We report on experimental and numerical studies of steady-state two-phase flow in a quasi twodimensional porous medium. Experimentally, the wetting and the non-wetting phase are injected simultaneously from alternating inlet points into a Hele-Shaw cell containing one layer of randomly distributed glass beads, initially saturated with wetting fluid. Transient behavior is observed in time and sp...
متن کاملEffective Rheology of Two-Phase Flow in Three-Dimensional Porous Media: Experiment and Simulation
We present an experimental and numerical study of immiscible two-phase flow of Newtonian fluids in three-dimensional (3D) porous media to find the relationship between the volumetric flow rate (Q) and the total pressure difference ([Formula: see text]) in the steady state. We show that in the regime where capillary forces compete with the viscous forces, the distribution of capillary barriers a...
